Danny “Big D” Champion, 59, of Shelby, passed away on June 25, 2011 at home.

Mr. Danny “Big D” Champion, 59, of Shelby, died on Saturday at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he was employed by Seal Wire Company.
Mr. Champion was the son of the late Leonard Champion & Lela Hayes Champion
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd “Red” Champion and sisters, “Sis” Champion,
Doris Brittain & Margaret Champion.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Martin Champion of the home; one son, Joey Alexander & wife
Amy of Cliffside; one daughter, Denna Alexander Hoyle & husband Ricky of Shelby; two stepsons,
Duane Green and Shell Green of Greenville, SC; one brother, Bill Champion of Shelby; a sister,
Carolyn Costner of Fallston; seven grandchildren, Jessica Green, Destiny Williams, Ashlynn
Alexander, Dylan Hoyle, Kylie Alexander, Maranda Hoyle and Jesslynn Ansley. He is also survived
by a number of children who considered “Big D” as grandpa.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 Monday at Cleveland Funeral
Services & Crematory and other times at the home.
Funeral: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel
