Danny Turner Jr.

Blacksburg -- Danny Turner Jr., 52, of 247 Bridges Road, passed away Friday, April 26th, 2013 in Charlotte.

Born in Charlotte, Mr. Turner was the husband of Kim Turner of the home and the son of Dan and Carolyn Porter Turner of Blacksburg.  He worked as a postal carrier, was a member of Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church, was a member of the Buffalo Lodge #202 AFM, where he was a past Master of the Lodge, and he as a Shriner by the Scottish Rite and York Rite.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Turner is survived by two sons, Daniel Clayburn Turner III and wife, Ashley, of Blacksburg and Jeremy Piercy and wife, Katie, of Durham, NC; two daughters, Ellen Owen and husband, Michael, of Blacksburg and Shayne Collins and husband, Shawn, of Shelby, NC; a brother, Scott Turner and wife, Sharon, of Blacksburg; a sister, Cindy Turner, of Blacksburg; and four grandchildren, Marylyn Turner of Blacksburg, Daniel Clayburn (Clay) Turner IV of Blacksburg, Jasper Collins of Shelby, and Lorelai Collins of Shelby.

Mr. Turner was preceded in death by a grandson, Dennis Austin (Denny) Turner.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 29th, 2013, from 5:00pm - 5:30pm at Gordon Mortuary.  Memorial services will immediately follow at 5:30pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Michael D. Owen Jr. officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 950 Faris Street, Greenville, SC 29605.

The family will be at the home of Michael and Ellen Owen, 117 Cooksey Drive, Blacksburg and the home of Dan and Carolyn Turner, 238 Bridges Road, Blacksburg.

Gaffney -- Danny Robert (Duke) Painter, 64, of 150 Far-View Drive, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care.

Born in Gastonia, Mr. Painter was the husband of Jennie Garner Painter of the home and the son of the late Floyde Albert and Doris Lucille Furr Painter.  He retired from Cherokee Finishing and attended the Blacksburg Church of God.  He was loving man who loved everything from God and family to the outdoors and fishing, and his grandson was very special to him.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Painter is survived by a daughter, Tammy Painter Bridges and husband, Lyle, of Gaffney; a brother, Donald Painter, of Blacksburg; two sisters, Barbara Sessions of Shelby and Eugonda Dorsey of Crouse, NC; and one grandson, Luke Bridges, of Gaffney.

Mr. Painter was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gene Camby and Dean Painter.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 29, 2013, from 7:00PM-8:30PM at Gordon Mortuary.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 30, at 3:00PM in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. James Clark and Rev. Curley Lanier officiating.  Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at the residence.
