Daryl Edward Putnam

Daryl Edward Putnam, age 63, a resident of Kings Mountain, NC, died Friday, June 7, 2013 at his home. Born in Gaston County , NC, son of the late Lawrence Edward and Connie Goins Putnam. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, a member of the National Rifle Association, American Legion Otis D. Green, Post 155, Kings Mountain serving as second vice-commander. He served in the US Army with the 1St Calvary Division (Mongoose Bravo) in Vietnam where he received two Purple Hearts, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Silver Star, two O/S bars, Expert M-14, M60 MG, M-16 Rifle badges, Army Air Medal and a Presidential Unit Citation. Daryl was a Commercial and Residential Building Contractor.

SURVIVORS: Brother: Jeff Putnam and wife Sharon, Kings Mountain, NC

                     Sister: Donna P. Butler, Kings Mountain, NC

                     Niece: Ami Butler Howard and husband Gary, Kings Mtn. NC

                    And their children, Addison Howard, Justin Howard, and Holden Howard. 
 
                        Nephews: Mark David Butler and wife Amy, Kings Mtn. NC

                    Tanner Putnam, Mt. Holly, NC 

                    J. T. Putnam, Kings Mtn. NC

MEMORIAL SERVICE:  A Memorial service with military honors will be held at  Mountain Rest Cemetery on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11:00 A.M.

VISITATION: 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. prior to the service at Harris Funeral Home
