David D. Saunders
 David D. Saunders, age 86, resident of 104 S. Gaston Street, Kings Mountain, NC died March 31, 2011 at White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain, NC.  He was born in Rockingham, NC to the late David Lenior and Isabel Diffee Saunders.  He was also preceded in death by grandson, Steven Rhyne Bell.  He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Kings Mountain, NC and a former manufacturer’s representative for the R. R. Street Company.     He was a Mason/Shriner and an avid Duke fan.  He served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Yorktown.  He was one of the first to take the flight of honor to the World War II Memorial, sponsored by the Kings Mountain Rotary Club. 

SURVIVORS: Wife of 68 years: Edna Ruth Houser Saunders, Kings Mtn. NC

 Daughters: Robin Gryder and husband Steve, Blythewood, SC

Deana Bell and husband Steve, Charlotte, NC

Shannon Morgan and husband Pat, Charlotte, NC

1 great grandson: David Parker Bell, Gastonia, NC                           

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Sunday, April 3, 2011 Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC   3:00 P.M.  Rev. Rex Gibbs, officiating.

VISITATION:  12:30 – 2:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon, April 3, 2011 prior to the service at their home, 104 S. Gaston Street, Kings Mountain, NC

INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, North Carolina
