SHELBY - Mr. David Earl Whaley, age 61, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Kings Mountain Hospice surrounded by his loving family. He is predeceased by his parents, Wesley and Annie Whaley Fowler and sister, Betty Hawkins.
David is survived by his wife, Mary Pearson Whaley of the home; four sons, DJ Whaley and wife, Michelle of Fallston, James Yancey of Shelby, John Yancey of Shelby and Joseph "Joey" Yancey and wife, Lisa of Lawndale; four sisters, Ina Maloney of Hickory, Carolyn Hamrick of Shelby, Brenda Ledford and husband, Steve of Shelby and Susie Stevens and husband, Sam of Florida; five brothers, Steve Whaley of Florida, Johnny Whaley and wife, Miranda of Casar, Wesley Fowler and wife, Tammy of Lawndale, Sammy Fowler and wife, Jamie of Shelby and Mike Fowler and wife, Janice of Shelby; ten grandchildren; Joseph Whaley, Cole Whaley, Stephanie Yancey, Lance Yancey, Jordan Yancey, Macy Yancey, Alisa Yancey, Chloe Yancey, Jasmine Yancey and Cobretti Yancey; two very special friends, Mr. & Mrs. Campbell of Shelby.
A service will be held 2:00 p.m.on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 1106 Poplar Springs Church Road, Shelby, NC 28152 with Dr. Floyd officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kings Mountain Hospice, 951 Wendover Heights, Shelby, NC 28150, Popular Springs Baptist Church, 1106 Poplar Springs Church Road, Shelby, NC 28152 or to any charitable organization of donors choice.
