David Pye, age 45, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, formerly of Rutherford County, died Saturday, January 16, 2016 at his residence.
Born March 24, 1970 in Goldsboro, NC, he was the son to the late Terry Lee Pye and Anza Faye West who resides in Sussex County, Virginia. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1988 and attended Alexander Baptist Church. David was an outdoorsman and worked as a hunting and fishing guide in Lake Lure for many years. He was a published columnist in the North Carolina Sportsman Magazine and was the TV host for "Mountain View Outdoors" on local cable television. He enjoyed kayaking, hunting, fishing and any other outdoor sport.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Annette Pye of Tulsa; grandmother, Ruth Pye of the Alexander Community; brother, Brandon Pye and wife, Michelle of Gastonia; three step-children, Jon Burton of Oklahoma City, Nick Burton and Veronica Vasquez both of Tulsa. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Abby Burton.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
