Deannie Aaron Gill

Mr. Deannie Aaron Gill, 55, of 1222 White Ave. Shelby NC departed this life on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, NC.

Born in Cleveland County, NC on August 18, 1959, he was the son of the late Aaron Harold and the late Rose Lillie Coleman Gill.

Mr. Gill was a 1977 graduate of Crest High School. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served eight years earning the rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge in 1986. Mr. Gill was an employee at Eaton Corp., in Grover, NC until his health declined. He was a very devoted father.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charlie and Lillie Crosby Coleman; his paternal grandparents, Walter and Marie Byers Gill; two uncles, Ted Gill and James I. Lilley and the mother of his surviving children, Roberta Curry.

He is survived by a son, Steven Curry of Shelby; two daughters Samantha Curry and Shelby Curry both of Shelby; two brothers Retired Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army, Harold Lee Gill (Carol) of Fayetteville, NC and Jackie Franklin Gill of Shelby; one niece, Candace Duncan; three nephews, Antwan M. Gill, Tyshon D. Gill and Harold L. Gill, Jr.; seven aunts, Mary F. Coleman, Min. Sallie C. Gill, Elizabeth C. Ross (James), Earlene C. Lilley, Eva C. Abbott (Dr. Robert D.), Julie C. Brooks (Johnny) and Roberta Gill all of Shelby; two uncles Retired Gunnersmate 1st Class Technician in the U.S. Navy and presently Merchant Seaman, Woodrow Coleman (Patricia) of Charleston, SC and Thurman Gill of Shelby; one granddaughter, Taylor Curry and the Curry family and also a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 2:30 PM at New Ellis Baptist Church with Rev. James Coleman officiating and Rev. A.A. Ponder delivering the eulogy. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 2:30 PM at the church on Thursday and at other times at the home.
