Debra "Debbie" Jean Shull Cook
Vale - Mrs. Debra "Debbie" Jean Shull Cook, 57, of 2873 Peeler Road, Vale passed Thursday, January 31, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.

Born in Catawba County, she is a daughter of Jerry and Gladys Shull.  Mrs. Cook was valedictorian of Fred T. Ford High School in 1973.  She continued her education at Lenoir-Rhyne College where she received her BA Degree in Education.  Retiring as a public school teacher, she enjoyed  her years in the classrooms at Union Elementary , Banoak Elementary and S. Ray Lowder Elementary.  A teacher loved by her students, Mrs. Cook received the Catawba County Teacher of the Year Award.  She was a faithful member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where she has played the piano for the past thirteen years, was a member of the choir , and  taught the Young Adults Discipleship Class. An avid Tarheel fan, she was a lover of reading and flowers.  Her family was
the light of her life and she always thought of others before herself.  She loved family get togethers and trips to the mountains.

In addition to her parents, Jerry Dale Shull and Gladys Lutz Shull of Vale, she is survived by her loving husband of thirty-nine years, Ralph Allen Cook; son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Sabrina Cook of Hickory; daughter and son-in-law, Whitney and Travis Woodward of Vale; brothers and their wives, Keith and Debbie Shull of Hickory and Randall and Vanessa Shull of Conover; sister and her husband, Kim and Randy Bowen of Claremont; brother-in-law and wife, Cecil and Linda Cook of Vale and sister-in-law and husband, Linda and Phil Bryson of Kings Mountain; precious grandchildren of "Mimi's", Brooke and Madison Woodward and Josephine Cook; nieces and nephews, Adam Shull, Holly Chapman, Kyle Efird, Abbey Shull, Greg Cook, Scottie Cook, Lee Dixon and Paula Moss.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:30 PM, Saturday, at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.

The funeral will be at 3:00 PM Sunday at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Allan Barlow officiating.  The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
