| Delphia “Betty” Miller Grigg, 96, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Hospice Cleveland County – Kings Mountain Facility. A native of Watauga County, she was the daughter of the late Ethram and Ada Greene Miller. Along with her parents, she was preceded by her husband, James Grigg and a son Grant Grigg. Mrs. Grigg was a member of First Baptist Church in Shelby since 1959 and was also a member of the Easter Star. She was a self-employed beautician. Betty was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and wife.
Mrs. Grigg is survived by her son, Mike Grigg and wife Kathy of Shelby; daughter, Lynn Grigg Franklin of Shelby, daughter-in-law, Michele Grigg of Shelby; sister, Juanita Norris and husband David of Boone, NC; grandchildren, Nicole Hughes and husband Greg of Hudson, NC, Kim Grigg of Gastonia, NC, Mark Nanney of Los Angeles, CA, Scott Grigg of Gastonia, NC, Amy Aycock and husband Drew of Wilson, NC, Dewain Haney and wife Susan of Gaffney, SC, Denise and Brandy McQueen of Westminster, SC; 9 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Webb Chapel of First Baptist Church in Shelby. The Rev. Tony Tench will be officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00pm prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Michele Grigg at 936 Costner Road, Shelby, NC, 28150.
