Dennis Lee Costner, Sr. age 65, of Baxter Road passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Kings Mountain Hospital. He was born January 3, 1953 in Cleveland County to the late Lee and Rachel Davis Costner. He was a maintenance tech for Firestone and enjoyed his work. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. Dennis was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and The American Legion Post #155 Kings Mountain. He loved farming and gardening and would help anyone in need.
He is survived by his children, Dennis Lee Costner, Jr. of Lawndale and Debra Costner Spangler and husband, Chuck of Cherryville; grandchildren, Kelsey, Robbie, and Dalton Costner and Carter and Laney Spangler; siblings, Jerry Costner of Cherryville, Ruth Causby of Cherryville, Linda Sweezy (Clyde) of Cherryville, Ann Barrett (Tim) of Shelby, Darlene Goforth (Richard) of Watertown, NY; Mother of his children, Nancy Boyd Costner; and friend, Brenda Anderson and her three children and eight grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 9, 2018 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Bill Lowe and Rev. Ken Gibson officiating. The burial will be private. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services.
