Dennis "Tank" Benjamin Davis, age 74 died Saturday November 21, 2015 at Carolinas Healthcare Cleveland. Born in Dayton Ohio on October 31, 1941 he was the son of the late William Cline and Gretchen Louise Coleman Davis. Tank was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. He retired as Chief Musician from the U. S. Navy, playing the Saxophone and the Clarinet in the Naval Academy Band.. He served on the Naval Aircraft Carriers, USS Constellation, Intrepid, Randolph and Lake Champlaign. He visited many countries as an ambassador with the U. S. Navy, and played for every Presidential Inauguration from 1959-1986. He enjoyed playing jazz and all types of music and played for Roy Battle and the Altones, The Lenny Adams Polka Band, The Georgetown University Orchestra, Gardner-Webb University Orchestra. In addition to his parents, Tank is preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Davis and Jack Davis; a sister, Gretta Schafor: and a niece,Sharon Werner, Helen Stover.

Tank is survived by his soulmate and best friend, Patricia Sparti of Shelby; an uncle Harold Davis of Dayton Ohio; sister-in-law, Luella Davis of Dayton Ohio; nieces and nephews, Jackie Miller, Celia Chapman,, Mike Schafor, John Schafor, Dennis Chapman, Butler Chapman, Scott Davis, Gretchen Davis Neff, John Davis, Esta Coyle, Betty McDaniel, William Davis, Belinda Morrison and special cousin, Carol Shockey and Jackie Bernfeld and many other beloved cousins and seven fur babies.

Funeral service will be held on Monday November 30, 2015 at 8:00 pm at Mt.. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Hamrick officiating. The family will receive an hour before the service from 7:00 pm until 8:00pm.
