Docia “Dot” Boykins James

Mrs. Docia “Dot” Boykins James, 59, of 129 Falls Road, Lawndale, NC, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, in Shelby, NC.  She was born on August 28, 1953 in Cleveland County to the late John Brown and Odessa Boykins.

 

Docia was a lifelong and faithful member of the Mountain View Baptist Church where she was active as Sunday School Superintendent and served on the usher board, Care Ministry, Senior Missionary, WC Choir, Mass Choir and Women in Ministry (WIM).

 

She was formerly employed with PPG and worked there for 28 years until she became disabled.  Docia enjoyed helping in the community when and wherever she could.  Docia’s favorite quote was “I like singing but, I love the Word of God.”

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie (Bubba) James; a brother, James Willis Boykins and sisters, Linda Thomas and Sue Grace Merriweather.

 

Left to cherish her memory are one brother, Frank Boykins (Chinetta) of Kingstown, NC; a sister, Peggy Eskridge of Roxboro, NC; a special niece, Carolyn Turner of Forestville, MD; special friends, Shirley Leslie and Betty Clark both of Lawndale, NC; goddaughter, Tomeka Leslie of Mebane, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Mountain View with Pastor Esther Littlejohn officiating and Rev. J.Q. Boykins delivering the eulogy.  Burial will take place at the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church.  Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloes.net.  Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
