Doris A. Mathis
Doris A.  Mathis, 88, of  Lexington, SC, went home to be with the Lord November 27, 2013,  at Oakleaf  Village of Lexington, Lexington, SC.  Born in Cherokee County and formerly of Greenwood, SC, she was the wife of the late James H. Mathis and a daughter of the late Lawrence F. and Daisy Coyle Allison.  She was a member of Connie Maxwell Baptist Church, Greenwood, SC.  She retired after serving 41 years at Connie Maxwell Children's Home.
 
Mrs. Mathis is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth M. Hanks and husband, David, of Lexington, SC; two grandchildren, JohnMichael Hanks and Lauren Elizabeth Hanks, both of Lexington, SC; and one brother, Lawrence Allison and wife, Brenda, of Gaffney, SC.  In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Crocker and Myrtle Smarr.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, November 29, 2013, 2:30 PM, graveside,  at Frederick Memorial Gardens, Gaffney, SC, with Dr. J. C. Collins officiating.  The family will receive friends  at the cemetery immediately following the service.  At other times, they will be at their respective homes.
 
Pallbearers serving are David Hanks, Andrew Pennington, Harold Pennington, Jr., Ronnie Smarr,  and Brooks Smarr.   Her nephew, Lawrence F. Allison, will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer.
