Doris Jean Mull Whitworth, age 72, died Friday, March 10, 2017 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Cleveland County on October 20, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Paul Fred and Ruby Lois Green Mull. Doris was a lifetime member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. She taught for Cleveland County Schools, Shelby Christian School and then in Gaston Christian School where she retired. Doris enjoyed gardening, reading and walking in the woods. She loved taking many trips to Charleston.

Doris is survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert Whitworth; a daughter, Kelly McSwain and husband Doyle of Shelby; two brothers, Cle Mull and wife Betty of Ellenboro, and David Mull and wife Pat of Shelby; two grandchildren, Whitney Harbison and husband Clint of Morganton, and Clayton McSwain of Shelby; and a great grandson, Colton Harbison.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 2:00pm at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Dr. Rit Varriale officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the sanctuary.
