Doris Pennell Crawford
 Mrs. Doris Pennell Crawford, 81, of Shelby, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012, at Cleveland

Regional Medical Center. A native of Chase City, VA, she was the daughter of late Onie Joephus Pennell &

Lillie Bell Icenhour Pennell.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of

fifty-seven years , Rev. Zeke C. Crawford and a great grandchild, Caroline Purdum.

She was a homemaker and an active member of various churches throughout  her life, most recently at Double Springs Baptist Church where she was in the Darcus Sunday School Class and enjoyed being a member of the

Prayer Shawl Ministry.  She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She  is survived by daughter, Paulette Purdum & husband, Larry of Macon, NC; sons, Dr. Ron Crawford &

wife, Cindi of Richmond, VA, Linwood Crawford & wife Karen of Shelby, Tim Crawford & wife, Brenda of

 Lake Lure, NC, daughter, Karen Harvey & husband, Ed of Gainsville, FL; sisters, Bernice Reese of South Hill, VA,

Eunice Lowe of  Newport News, VA; one brother, Joephus Pennell, Jr. of Portsmouth, VA; ten grandchildren,

eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation:  The family will receive friends on Friday, April 20, 2012, 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Double Springs

                 Baptist Church with the funeral following at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Richard Merk officiating.

Burial: Bat Cave Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Richard Merk officiating.                       

       The family will receive  friends following the graveside service.
