Doris Willine McAteer Dockery

SHELBY- Doris Willine McAteer Dockery, 81, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Wendover Hospice. A native of Fort Mill, SC she was born April 9, 1933, daughter of the late Everette Massey and Clara Inez McCameron McAteer. She moved to Shelby in 1942. She was employed in textiles by Dover Mills at age 18 and retired from there after 49 years. She was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church and was a Hospice volunteer for several years; she enjoyed traveling throughout the country with her husband and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her church family and singing in the choir but her most favorite times was spent with her family.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Betty McAteer and Pat Bowman; one granddaughter, Kimberlee Connor McCurry.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Charles Dockery; two sons, Ronald York of Shelby, Skip York and wife Cathy of Lawndale; two daughters, Cheryl Edgar of Boiling Springs, Joyce Fleming and husband Rob of Lexington, SC, one daughter in law, Judy York of Kings Mountain; six grandchildren, David LaMountain of Shelby, Travis York of Cherryville, Justin and Jamie York both of Kings Mountain, Nikki Ledford of Boiling Springs, and Lynn LaPrade of Asheboro; 10 great grand children; eight great great grandchildren; and many special friends.

SERVICES: A celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday at Faith Baptist Church.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

CLERGY: Dr. J. Barry Goodman and Rev. Johnny Owens will officiate the service.

BURIAL: Private

MEMORIALS: In Lieu of flowers the family asked that memorials be made to Faith Baptist Church Senior Ministry, 2738 South Post Road, Shelby, NC 28152
