Dorothy Ann Cobb
It is with a mixture of sorrow and profound gratitude that we announce the passing of Dorothy Ann Cobb, who departed this earthly realm peacefully on May 12, 2025. Born on November 21, 1941, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, Dorothy lived a life filled with grace, devotion, and an unmistakable love for her family and community.
Dorothy was the cherished daughter of Dorse Bell and Ellie Lemmons Bell, and she nurtured her family connections deeply throughout her life. A proud sister to her late brothers, Jerry Bell and Steve Bell, she carried their memories within her heart.
In her pursuit of knowledge and skill, Dorothy became certified as both a Hair Stylist and an Emergency Medical Technician--a testament to her dedication to helping others. Her loving spirit and boundless compassion found a fertile ground within the embrace of both her church community and her family.
As a devoted member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, located on Hwy 74 in Shelby, Dorothy loved her church family, who adored her in return. Her faith was a guiding light, radiating warmth and kindness to all who knew her.
Dorothy was a loving wife to Rufus "Buck" Cobb for 63 beautiful years, a relationship that stood as a pillar of strength against the trials of life. Together, they crafted a legacy of love that spanned generations. Dorothy also held the distinguished role of mother to Brian Cobb and his wife Vicki, a relationship steeped in mutual respect and affection. The bond she formed with her grandson Caleb Clark and his wife Leighann was equally precious, further enriched by the joyous presence of her great-grandchildren: Hunter, Kylie, and Emmanuel. Each of them painted her days with laughter and memories that will forever echo in the chambers of their hearts.
Dorothy's gentle spirit and nurturing heart left an indelible mark on her family and friends. As we come together to celebrate her extraordinary life, we invite all who loved her to join us at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Shelby on May 15, 2025. The Visitation will commence at 2:00 PM, leading into the Funeral Service at 3:00 PM with Dr. Bo Wagner officiating. Following the service, we will lay her to rest at Cleveland Memorial Park at 4:00 PM, where she will eternally be surrounded by the love she cultivated throughout her days.
In all that she did, Dorothy embodied love and kindness. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life beautifully lived--a life that connected hearts and inspired generations. She will be missed dearly, but her spirit will continue to be a guiding light for all who knew her.
