Born June 24, 1929 in Burke Co., she was the daughter of the late Charles Holtzclaw and Mattie Crowe Holtzclaw. She was a member of Polkville Baptist Church and a former member of the WMU. She retired from Universal Mfg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Max Holtzclaw.

Survivors include her husband of sixty five years, James Horace Gettys, Jr.  three brothers, A.C (Fairy Jo) Holtzclaw and Robert  (Shirley) Holtzclaw of Rutherfordton and Clarence  (Doris )Holtzclaw of Maiden, sister-in-law, Peggy Holtzclaw, and her daughter Jewell of Polkville, brother-in-law, Hix (Blanche) Gettys, sister-in-law, Margaret Gettys, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Polkville Baptist Church Monday September 26, 2011 from 1:00 until 2:00PM.

The funeral service will follow at 2:00PM at the church with the Revs. Rick Hamrick and Dale Byrd officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
