Dorothy Iwilla Putnam, 85, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Carolina Care Center in Cherryville.  A native of Cleveland County she was the daughter of the late Henry William and Mattie Mozelle Tate Putnam.  She was also preceded in death by her former husband Frank Mull and an infant daughter Joan Marie Mull.  Dorothy was a retired LPN.  She enjoyed working in her garden, painting, singing and making people laugh.  She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Putnam is survived by her daughter Karen Lineberger and friend Don Teague; two sons, Bill Mull and wife Judy and Kevin Mull and wife Jacklyn all of Shelby; four grandchildren, Jennifer Albea, Wesley Clary, Lacey Blake and Cole Mull; six great grandchildren, Kayley Albea, Abby, Macey and Lily Clary, Turner and Wyatt Blake; a sister Judy Glasgow and husband Rev. Bob Glasgow of Greensboro, NC.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Elizabeth Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00pm prior to the service at the church.  At other times the family will be at the home.

The family would like to thank the staff at Carolina Care Center for the care and devotion they gave Dorothy.
