Blacksburg -- Dorothy J. Thomas, 78, of 194 Becky's Boulevard, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 16, 2016.

She was the daughter of the late Samuel Graham Carr and Elvie Parker Carr of Blacksburg.

She is survived by one son, Brad Thomas and wife, Kelly, of Spruce Pine, NC; one daughter, Donna Allen, of Blacksburg; two brothers, Robert Carr of Morganton, NC and Melvin Carr of Winnsboro; and one grandson, Jason Allen, of Pembroke Pines, FL. She is also survived by 3 aunts, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by Ray E. Thomas, her loving husband of over 50 years of Blacksburg; one son, Rusty Thomas of Orange, TX, one brother, Harold Carr, and one sister, Joanne Carr. She was preceded in death by her loving cat of 12 years, "Skipper".

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 19th, 2016, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 20th, 2016 at 11:00 am at Buffalo Baptist Church, 618 Old Buffalo Church Road Blacksburg, SC 29702 with Dr. Craig Bailey of First Baptist Church, Winnsboro, SC officiating. Interment will follow at Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care, 389 Serpentine Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or to Humane Society of Cherokee County, PO Box 2223, Gaffney, SC 29342.

The family will be available to receive family and friends at the home of Mrs. Thomas at 194 Becky's Boulevard, Blacksburg, SC.

The family would like to sincerely send a special thank you to the countless family members, friends, and neighbors who have enriched her life in so many ways throughout the years.
