| Dorothy Sue Hamrick, 89, of Boiling Springs passed away at 1:30pm on Tuesday, January 17, 2012. She grew up in Boiling Springs and graduated from Boiling Springs High School and went on to earn her degree in teaching from Appalachian State University. She taught High School Home Economics in Cleveland County for 41 years and retired from Crest Senior High School. Her love in life was serving Jesus through teaching High School Students, teaching 4th through 6th grade Sunday School at Boiling Springs Baptist Church, cooking for others, and spending time with family and friends just to name a few. She was actively involved in the Homemaker’s Club, Garden Club, Sorosis Club as well as others. She loved life and people and it showed in all she did.
Our family would like to thank Sheila, Shelly, Betty, and Deloise of Home Instead Senior Care of Gastonia for the excellent care they provided for Mrs. Dorothy Sue Hamrick.
She is preceded in death by her husband Graham Clarence Hamrick and her parents Edwin Duvall Hamrick and Ossie Foy Hamrick. She is survived by her brother Thomas Hamrick of Boiling Springs; her grandson Joseph Blalock and wife Andrea and their daughter Alexa of Charlotte NC; her granddaughter Willene Byrd and husband Bobby, and their children Whitney, Michael, CJ and Taylor of Charlotte; along with many loving nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Boiling Springs Baptist Church. Dr. Carroll Page will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00pm prior to the service in the LEC building.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Boiling Springs Baptist Church, P O Box 917, Boiling Springs, NC 28017.
