Dorsie "Dot" Kennedy Wheeler, age 103, of Henrietta, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born September 12, 1912 in Rutherford County, NC, she was a daughter to the late Fred Kennedy and Rose Ann Buice Kennedy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Tommy Wheeler; daughter, Rita Marlene Wheeler; and son-in-law, Cecil Clark.
Mrs. Wheeler was the oldest living member of First Baptist Church of Henrietta. She retired from Burlington Industries after 40 years of service and enjoyed cooking, gardening and shopping.
Survivors include her four children, Clark Wheeler and wife Mavis of Henrietta, Ramona Ross of Forest City, Judy Clark of Forest City, Tommy Wheeler and wife Beth of Forest City. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Sharon Hardin (Rick), Steve Wheeler, David Clark, Cynthia Robbins (George), Debbie Higginbotham (Jeff), John Jones Jr. (Rhonda), Lance Wheeler (Lynne), Blake Wheeler; thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Henrietta with Reverend Pete Bridges, Reverend John Godfrey and Reverend Mike Cash officiating. Interment will follow in High Shoal Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2016 at Harrelson Funeral Home.
