Dovie Scism Proctor, age 85, died peacefully on November 19, 2017 at Carillion in Shelby. Born in Cleveland County on February 11, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Boyd and Hattie Wright Scism. Dovie was a lifetime member of Dover Baptist Church and retired from Dover Mill where she worked for almost 50 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Proctor, two brothers, Allen and Charles; sister-in-law, Joyce; and nephew Colon.

Dovie is survived by her daughter, Mitzi (Kyle); two sons, Danny (Linda), and Robbie; grandchildren, Billy and Heather (Santo); and great grandchildren, Hunter, Nate and Zane.

A celebration of Dovie's life will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Irvin Price officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the caregivers at Carillon Assisted Living; they made her time there safe and happy.
