Dwight "Whitey" Lee London
Dwight "Whitey" Lee London, 88, of Devine Road, passed away
Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.

Born October 28, 1924 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Morgan
Lee London and Cora Gordon London.  Whitey worked for Harris Teeter and
Ingle's Grocery Stores.  He was a member of Friendship United Methodist
Church, and also served in the US Army during WWII where he received a
Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Nelson Lee
London and three sisters, Dorothy Willis, Polly Docterman and Ruth Bunn.

Survivors his wife of 65 years, Ruth Hoyle London; two sons, Ronnie London
and wife, Donna of Jacksonville, FL and Joel London and wife, Kim of
Fallston; daughter-in-law,  Sheila London of Monroe; two brothers, Clarence
London and wife, Betty of Polkville and Datha London of Shelby; sister,
Betty Hede of Pineola; four grandchildren, Seth London and wife, Sarah of
Mt. Airy, NC; Rob London and wife, Karla of Grimesland, NC; Kirsten Edwards
and husband, Caleb of Jacksonville, FL; and Jessica Bowen and husband,
Rodney of Fallston; eight great-grandchildren, Andrew London, Jack London,
Emma Cate London, Cy London, Karsyn London, Anna Edwards, Mallorie London
and Quintin Bowen.

Visitation: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Tuesday, at Friendship United Methodist Church,
Fallston.  The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the
service.

Officiating: Rev. Terry Bevill and Dr. John Ware

Burial: Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston
