Born December 18, 1945 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Leila Costner. He was retired from the Cleveland County Maintenance Department and worked for Doran Textiles for twenty five years. He was a member of Union Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Pete McFarland, one sister, Peggy Shires, and one granddaughter, Anna Grace Putnam.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Lovelace Jarrett, two daughters and sons-in-law, Michele & Steve Putnam of Shelby and Ginger & Wesley Hamrick of Boiling Springs, two sons, Nathan McKee and Tyler McKee both of Polkville, eleven grandchildren, special friend, Jesse Thackerson of Shelby, and companion, Tucker.

Visitation will be 10:00AM until 11:00AM Monday March 10, 2014 at Union Baptist Church.

The memorial service will be 11:00AM Monday at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Shumate officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
