Eddie Dale Hughey

Eddie Dale Hughey, 75, of Blacksburg, SC, went to be with the Lord, Monday, January 31st, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, Spartanburg, SC.

A native of Blacksburg, SC, he was the son of the late Edward L. and Pearl Hambright Hughey. Mr. Hughey was the husband of Patricia Patterson Hughey and they had celebrated 54 years of marriage. He is a graduate of Blacksburg High School and was retired from Duke Power as a Hydro Operator, where he was the recipient of the Duke Power Volunteer of the Year award. Mr. Hughey was a member of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and had served on many mission trips with the Broad River Baptist Association to Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and Haiti, helping to build churches. He also served in various capacities on mission trips to Kentucky and West Virginia as well. Mr. Hughey was a charter member of the CKC Volunteer Fire Department in Blacksburg, SC. He has served as a volunteer with the Red Cross for 30 years, where he taught Adult/Infant CPR. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, he will be cherished and lovingly remembered by his daughter and son in law, Juanita and Todd Humphries, Gaffney and son and daughter in law, Timmy and Tammy Hughey of Blacksburg, sisters: Penny (Mark) Patterson, Tillie (Jim) Cook, Jill (Bill) Rice, as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins and Aunt, Irene Gold, several close friends, Mark Patterson and Wayne Peterson who were like brothers to him and Norma Jean Martin.

Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Roger Barnard Hughey.

The family will receive friends, Thursday, February 3, 2022, 2:30-3:30 pm at Cherokee Falls Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 3:30 with Reverend Ricky Martin and Reverend Tim Knotts officiating. Entombment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers serving are Mark Patterson, Wayne Peterson, Jimmy Hambright, Joseph Patterson, Keith (Cajun) Manning, Yvan Walker and Terry Martin. Honorary pallbearers serving will be Cleve Hambright, Knox Hambright, Cecil Martin, Pete Earls and members of the CKC Volunteer Fire Department and Deacons of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church.
