Eddie Dean McCraw, Jr.

Eddie Dean McCraw, Jr., 66, passed away Thursday, December 30th, 2021, at Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach.

A resident of North Myrtle Beach, he was born in Cleveland County, NC, on July 2nd, 1955 to parents Dean and Lucille McCraw. Growing up in the Antioch community with his late cousins Donnie and Randy Beam, he attended Blacksburg schools.

Following graduation from Blacksburg High School in 1973, Eddie was employed by Duke Power as a crane operator. After retiring from Duke Power and Regional Utilities, Spartanburg, SC, he and his dad, "Deano," managed Cherokee Avenue Motors for many years. Eddie was always an avid sports fan and was inducted into the Blacksburg High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.

Survivors include his life partner, Regina Pennington; daughter, Katy McCraw Moss and husband, Chad; a son, Matthew McCraw; and a sister, Lynn McCraw Rowland, and husband, Tim. His grandchildren include: Erica and Tyler Morrison, Drake Byers, and Robert Chadwick Moss, II. He is also survived by a niece, Leigh Anne Carmichael, and a close cousin, Neal McCraw and wife, Jean.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 9th, 2022, from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm at Gordon Mortuary. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Vernon Craig officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Backpack Buddies, 419 W. Cherokee St, Blacksburg, SC 29702 or to the Blacksburg High School Athletic Department, 201 W. Ramseur Dr, Blacksburg, SC 29702.

The family will be at their respective homes.
