Edith Iona "Ike" Self Fortenberry, 95, of Moriah Church Road, Casar, passed
away Friday, March 25, 2016 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.

Born November 10, 1920 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late
Charlie Self and Buna Brackett Self. Mrs. Fortenberry was a homemaker and a
member of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David
Paul Fortenberry; daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Hugh Lee Causby;
brothers, Joe Self, Frank Self, Dwight Self and Warren Self; sisters,
Lucille Edwards, Nina Richards, Lois Harrelson and Maude Luckadoo and
grandson, Brian Bridges.

Mrs. Fortenberry is survived by her daughter, Sandra Shelnutt of Casar and
grandchildren, Savannah Bridges of Polkville and Robbie Bridges of Haddon
Heights, New Jersey.

The funeral will be 11:00 AM Monday at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church in
Casar with Revs. David Miner and Tim Ware officiating. Burial will follow
in the church cemetery.
