Edna Estelle Greene, 96, of Ellenboro, passed away Monday, March 12, 2013 at Fairhaven Nursing Home in Bostic. A native of Rutherford County, she was born on April 26, 1916 to the late Minor Lovelace and Mary Lovelace. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, G.M. Greene; one daughter, Helen Burger ; and one sister, Ruth Jones. She was a seamstress and was a member of Walls Baptist Church is Bostic, North Carolina.
Ms. Greene is survived by her son, Gerald Greene and wife Pat of Knoxville Tennessee; and by her daughter, Mary Jo Whisnant of Ellenboro. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Ms. Greene will be held at Walls Baptist Church in Bostic at 3:00 PM on Friday, March 15, 2013 with the Rev. David Philbeck and Rev. Robert Toney officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
