Edna Mae Glover

Mrs. Edna Mae Glover was born May 25th, 1934 in Lawndale, NC. She departed this life peacefully at Cleveland Regional Medical Center Thursday morning January 23, 2014. She was the oldest of three children born to Mrs. Idell Hill and the late James Henry Hill, Jr. (Baby). She graduated from Douglas High School with the class of 1953. She then married the late R.C. Gober and from that union six children were born; Roderick Gober, Christopher Gober, Carol Banks, Sharon Gober, Tyrone Gober, and Tammy Simon.

After joining the First Baptist Church of Lawndale she became involved in fulfilling the mission of the church with a cheerful, pleasing personality as a member of the Ushers, the Missionary Department and the Social Concerns Committee. She also served as a Sunday school and Vacation Bible School Teacher. As a member of the Lawndale ECA she enjoyed creating booths in the exhibit hall at the Cleveland County Fair. An avid reader, she enjoyed sewing, and loved spending time gardening. The delicious meals enjoyed by her children attested to the skills she acquired from her mother as a child.

In the autumn years of her life Edna married the late J. P. Glover. Not long after his passing she decided to retire as a Cloth Inspector at Cleveland Mills. From that very date until her passing she invested her time, her heart, her wisdom into her most prized and cherished accomplishments, her children and grandchildren. She always shared and impressed upon her children how necessary it was for them to repent of their sins and give their life to Jesus Christ, and to live a life that is pleasing to Him.

She was preceded in death by her three daughters; Carol Banks, Sharon Gober, and Tammy Simon; her father James Henry Hill, Jr. She leaves behind to cherish her, three sons Roderick (Gail) Gober of Shelby NC, Christopher Gober and Tyrone Gober, both of Lawndale, NC. 11 grandchildren; Ken Gober, Lateefah Diop, Jared (Angelica) Gober, Kristica Gober, Darryl Gober, Ashley Banks, Erica Callender, Martre’ (Valarie) Gober, Mia Gober, Isaiah Simon and Khalijah Simon. 11 great grandchildren; and Mrs. Renee’ Rivers-Hinton of Charlotte, NC, whom she loved like a daughter and a host of friends dear to her heart along with  nieces and nephews and other relatives.
