Edward Leslie Ferrell

Mr. Edward Leslie Ferrell, 92, died on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at home.  A native of Raleigh County, West Virginia he was the son of the late Charles Armstrong and Sally Lillian Tyree Ferrell.  He was a retired civilian worker for the US Army.  Mr. Ferrell trained as a B-17 pilot with the U.S. Army Air Corps and later served in Tunisia.  He owned the Bradley Market in Bradley West Virginia before joining the U.S. Army Electronics Command as a Defense Inventory Analyst.  He was a trustee and deacon of Memorial Baptist Church in Philadelphia and was most currently a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Shelby.  He retired in 1982 from Fort Monmouth, New Jersey before moving to Shelby.  He was an active member of the Exchange Club.  Mr. Ferrell was a very loving Father, Husband and Grandfather and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Ferrell is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary W Ferrell; one son, Michael Leslie Ferrell wife Ann of Wall, NJ; two grandchildren, Sarah Ferrell and Michael Ferrell.  Special thanks to Robbie Mobley for the special care given to Edward.

A funeral service will be held at the Chapel of Cecil M Burton Funeral Home on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 2:00PM with military honors.  The Rev. Leland Kerr will be officiating.  The interment will be in Beckley, West Virginia at a later date.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00pm prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Eastside Baptist Church, 1165 Wyke Road, Shelby NC 28150 or Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby NC 28150.
