Edwin Thomas"Tommy (Spot)" Spangler
 Edwin Thomas"Tommy (Spot)" Spangler, 55, passed away on January 26, 2014, at
his home on Metcalf Rd in Shelby.  Born on March 11, 1958, a native of
Cleveland County he is a son of Bill and Sue Spangler. 

He was an active member of Ross Grove Baptist Church where he helped coach
the youth softball team. Tommy studied at Western Carolina University and
Haywood Technical College where he earned a degree in Forestry Management.
He was the owner and operator of S&B Concrete, a trade he learned from his
Dad. He was previously employed by Osmose, traveling extensively up and down
the Eastern Seaboard. Reading was one of his favorite pastimes, and he
particularly enjoyed military history.  In addition to literature, Tommy
loved many outdoor activities. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Decatur and Oveida Pruett and
Baylus and Lula Spangler, and brother-in-law Charlie Rogers and Aunt Helen
Dover Spangler . 

In addition to his parents he is survived by his brother Mark Spangler and
wife Sandy, of Berea, Ohio, two sisters, Barbara Rogers of Shelby, Susan and
husband William Evans of Shelby,  Gene Spangler,  and Johnny Dover, and many
nephews, nieces, great niece and great nephew that he considered his own;
Chuck, Ernie, Sasha, Jeff, Christine, Becky, Vicki, Rachael, Alyssa,
Savannah, Ella Jane, and Grant, including many special friends.

The family will recieve friends from 6:00 to 7:30pm Thursday, January, 30,
2013, at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston, NC.  Online condolences maybe made

The funeral will be at 11:00am on Friday at Ross Grove Baptist Church,
Shelby, with the Rev. Chase Thompson officiating.  The burial will follow in
the church cemetery.

Shelby, NC 28150.
