Cherryville – Mrs. Elaine Simpson Carpenter, 78, of 700 Self St. formerly of Milo Neal Rd., passed away on Sunday, February, 24, 2013 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.
Elaine was born in Cleveland County, NC on March 10, 1934 a daughter of the late Carl Simpson and Viona Ruth Moore Simpson. She was retired from Peak Resources as a nursing assistant and was a member of Gospel Way Baptist Church in Cherryville.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Carpenter, four brothers, an infant brother, Bobby, Frank and Rev. Herman Simpson; three sisters, two infant sisters and Betty Guy.
Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack Simpson and Sybil of Shelby and Steve “Bud” Simpson and wife Kathy of Lattimore; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Yvonne Reynolds of Lincolnton and Frances Peeler and Howard; also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 1:45 until 2:45PM at Gospel Way Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 3:00PM at Gospel Way Baptist Church with the Rev. Kyeth Lindsay officiating.
Burial will be at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Shelby.
