Elizabeth "Betsy" Hamrick Hord
 Elizabeth "Betsy" Hamrick  Hord, 57, of 421 E. Double Shoals Rd, Shelby,
passed away  Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.

Betsy was born in Cleveland County on October 29, 1953, to the late William
Dixon Hamrick and Mary Elizabeth Bridges Hamrick.  She attended Appalachian
State University where she earned a Bachelors of Science in Education and
then attended Gardner Webb University to earn her Masters Degree in Early
Childhood K-6.  She worked for Hamrick's Super Market before her career in
Education.  Mrs. Hord was a 1st grade teacher for 27 years for the Cleveland
County School System teaching at  Township #3 Elementary School and
Fallston Elementary School.  She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church
where she taught Sunday school in the children's department.

Betsy is survived by her husband of 34 years Joseph Everett "Ebbie" Hord;
two sons, Joseph E. Hord, Jr. and wife Trina of Lawndale and Dixon J. Hord
of Lawndale; sister, Nancy Isenhour and husband Greg of New House; two
brothers-in-law, Frank Hord and wife Donna of Shelby and David Hord and wife
Susan of Rockhill, SC; three nieces, Laura Isenhour of New House, Stephanie
Potts and husband Darin of Lexington, and Catherine Hord of High Point; four
nephews, Daniel Isenhour of New House, Andrew Hord, Tyler Hord, and Dillon
Hord all of Rockhill, SC; great niece Riley Potts of Lexington.

Visitation, 6:00 PM to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
