Mrs. Elizabeth Cabaniss Blanton, age 93 of Lattimore, NC, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 at Wendover Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Lattimore Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Court Greene and Dr. Max Burgin. A visitation will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 pm prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She is survived by two children, Kenny Blanton, Jr. and wife Judyth of Lattimore, NC, and Jane Moor of Smyrna, DE, seven grandchildren, Michael Blanton, Christopher Blanton, Kenneth Blanton III, Andrew Blanton and wife Brooke, Jennifer Holdsworth and husband Keith, Matthew Moor and fiancé Jamie, and Alex Moor and wife Mary, twelve great grandchildren, three brothers, Robert Cabaniss and wife Evelyn, George Cabaniss, Jr. and wife Janice, and Hal Cabaniss and wife Martha, two sisters, Doris Wright and Brenda Curtis and husband Steve, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Born March 5, 1922 in Shelby, NC, Mrs. Blanton was the daughter of the late George Turner Sr. and Bryte (Beam) Cabaniss and was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hewitt Blanton, Sr., a brother, Joseph Cabaniss, and three sisters, Aileen Cabaniss, Sara Johnson, and Carolyn Diehl.

Mrs. Blanton graduated in 1939 from Lattimore High School. She was on the basketball team and Glee Club. She later attended Gardner Webb College before entering the nursing school at Shelby hospital. She was in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps during WWII. Elizabeth was a member of the Flint Hills DAR, Retired Nurses, the Lattimore Baptist Church Choir, WMU and other church groups. She enjoyed making chocolate pound cakes for her family and friends.

"Mama Lib" was loved by all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
