Elizabeth Delores Leigh Davis Rippy, age 88, of Shelby NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
Born March 22, 1935 in Gaston County, Delores was the daughter of the late Clarence Leigh and Effie Mae Froneberger Leigh Ramsey.
Delores was a very strong and hard-working lady in the earlier years of her life. She worked at Mauney Hosiery Mills, Inc in Kings Mountain, NC and operated her own business before her retirement. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles in the TV guide and she won a spelling bee as a child in school. Delores had previously attended Royster Avenue Church of God in Shelby NC.
Delores is survived by her children, Theresa Barber of Kings Mountain, NC, Debra Bobiak of Wilmington, NC, Susan Kiser of Kings Mountain, NC, Kelly Davis of Honolulu, HI, Tina Davis of Buffalo, NY, and Lisa Davis of Shelby, NC, Kimberley Earwood of Shelby, NC; grandchildren, Audra Price (Tommy), Kevin Barber (Rhonda), Natasha Gaddy (Robbie), William Byers, Douglas Bobiak (Mary Allison), Shan Kiser, Kristian Davis, Joshua Tesseneer (Amber), Krista Biggerstaff, Annagrace Earwood; great-grandchildren, Zack Price, Brison Barber, Clay Barber, Colt Barber, Reagan Gaddy, James Bobiak, Harrison Bobiak, Adam Kiser, Allie Biggerstaff, sisters, Carolyn Marr of Indian Trail, NC and Jean Peterson of Kings Mountain, NC and brother, Kenneth Ward.
In addition to her parents, Delores is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Bobby Rippy; son, Jeffery Davis; grandson, Michael "Mikey" Tesseneer, Jr. and great-grandson, Tabin Barber; brothers, Donald Leigh and Jerry Ward; and sisters, Betty Houser and Anne Heavner.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, October 11, 2023 in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home, with Rev. Kimberley Earwood and Pastor Richard Shores officiating. From 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM, prior to the service, there will be a visitation at the funeral home. Committal will be in Sunset Cemetery following the service.
