Mrs. Elizabeth Greene Cabiness, 77, of Shelby died on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.  A native of Cleveland County, she was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd E. “L.E.” and Ostine Whitaker Greene. Mrs. Cabiness is also preceded in death by her husband of over 45 years, Edwin Wray Cabiness.  Mrs. Cabiness was a retired bookkeeper for North State Gas Service Inc. and a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.  She enjoyed making people laugh.

Mrs. Greene is survived by her brother, Lloyd G. Greene wife Glenda S. Greene of Shelby; a sister, Myrna G. Hamrick, husband Jack Hamrick Jr. of Shelby;  nieces, Lisa Goforth and husband, Greg of York, SC and their children, Matthew and Miranda; Lynn Houser and husband, Keith of Mooresville, NC and their children, Kelsey and Katie Brooke; nephew, Jeremy Hamrick of Shelby and wife, Heidi and their children, Blake Harris, Addison Hamrick and Bailee Hamrick.

The funeral service will be held at Beaver Dam Baptist Church at 3:00PM on Sunday, January 30, 2011.  The Rev. Jimmy Black and Dr. Paul Sorrells will be officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00PM on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church sanctuary.  Burial will be at Cleveland Memorial Park on Monday, January 31, 2011.  At other times the family will be at the home of Jack and Myrna Hamrick in Shelby.
