| Elizabeth “Libby” Sasaki, 71, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2011 at home. She was the daughter of the late William Alvin and Gertrude Fortenburry Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Yasuhiko Sasaki and two sisters, Beatrice Hicks ad Katherine Kimbrell. Mrs. Sasaki worked as an administrative assistant with Cleveland County Emergency Management and Fire Marshall’s office. She had previously served as a private secretary and executive assistant for major Fortune 500 companies including All State Insurance and Jansen Sportswear Inc. She was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church, a community volunteer worker helping with under privileged youth for uptown Shelby, loved gardening and was an avid reader.
Mrs. Sasaki is survived by her son, Robert Yasuhiko Sasaki, Jr. of Atlanta, GA and his fiancé Reena Maharaj of Vancouver BC; her daughter, Naomi Sasaki Whalen and husband David of Saxonburg, PA; two grandchildren, Madison and Lexington Whalen; brother, Bill Williams and wife Grace of Shelby; brother-in-law, Jack Kimbrell of Raleigh; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00pm on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.
