Ellen Genell "Tootie" McCraw Godfrey, 91, formerly of 2852 Wood Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at White Oak Manor in Shelby, NC.

Born in Shelby, NC, she was the widow of the late Jim Edward Godfrey and daughter of the late Charlie McCraw and Ollie Pearson McCraw. She retired from Cone Mills and was a member of Prospect Baptist Church in Mooresboro, NC.

Surviving are a daughter, June Thompson and husband, Ronnie, of Mooresboro, NC; three sisters, Mae Farmer, Patsy Greene and Nancy Justice, all of Mooresboro, NC; two grandchildren, Christy Brown and husband, Matt, of Rutherfordton, NC and Shelley Butler and husband, Ronald Whitener of Forest City, NC; three great-grandchildren, Hayden Whitener, Tyler Brown and Abram Brown. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray McCraw and Guy McCraw.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00 PM on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Prospect Baptist Church in Mooresboro. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 PM at the Church with Rev. Larry Helms and Rev. Ernie Cole officiating. Interment will be in the Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Ronnie & June Thompson, 2700 Ruppe Road, Mooresboro, NC.
