Elsie Ruth Stallings Smith, 93, of 523 Moriah Ch Road, Casar, died
Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.
Born July 7, 1920 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Tildon
Stallings and Belle McCurry Stallings. Mrs. Smith retired from
Haven-N-Hills and was a member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph
Miller Smith; daughter, Evelean Deviney; four sisters, Lola Johnson, Bertie
Lee Smith, Irene Van Dyke and Bertha Bell Terry and five brothers, Clyde
Stallings, J.T. Stallings, James Stallings, Jerry Stallings and Reid
Stallings.
Survivors include a son, Billy Ray Smith and wife, Deborah of Casar; two
daughters, Carol Cook and husband, Larry of Casar and Marie Gantt and
husband, Danny of Shelby; two brothers, Johnny Stallings and Horace
Stallings both of Shelby; sister, Bessie Elliott of Lawndale; and seven
grandchildren. fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren
Visitation: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
At other times the family will be at the home, 523 Moriah Church Road,
Casar.
Funeral Service: 2:30 PM, Saturday at Morris Memorial Baptist Church,
Casar. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the
funeral.

Burial: Morris Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery, Casar
