Mrs. Emily McSwain Bridges, 66, of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at her residence.
She is survived by her children, Angelie Bridges and husband Jerry Tallent of Mooresboro, NC, Gladys Ledbetter and husband Joel of Shelby, NC, Teddy Bridges and wife Chasity of Shelby, NC, and Merle Taylor and husband Curtis of Shelby, NC, grandchildren, Jordan Ledbetter, Justin Ledbetter, Jonathan Ledbetter, Mark Bridges, Jennifer Bridges, Jessica Floyd, Ashley Bridges, Lillian Bridges, Destiny Bridges, Saddie Bridges, Harley Bridges, Wade Taylor, and Zachery Jones, great grandchildren, Teagan Floyd and Hailey Bridges, and sisters, Joyce Hamrick of Shelby NC and Janice McSwain of Shelby, NC.
Born December 2, 1949 in Cleveland County, Mrs. Bridges was the daughter of the late Evans McSwain and Nellie Thrift McSwain and was preceded in death by her husband, James Ray Bridges, a son, Charles Ray Bridges, and a brother, Randy McSwain.
Mrs. Bridges was a loving and caring woman who was truly loved by her children. She enjoyed puzzle books, looking after her puppies, and working in the yard. She will be missed by those that she touched.
Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Flint Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 2207 Flint Hill Church Rd, Shelby, NC 28152.
