Emma Jay Peterson Holt, age 74, died Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at White Oak Manor in Shelby. Born in Cherokee County SC. on August 11, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Raner Lewis and Ethel Manning Peterson. She was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church.

She retired from Ora Mills as a spinning operator. She enjoyed sewing and making aprons .Cooking and gardening. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Peterson; an infant daughter, and five great grandchildren.

Emma is survived by her husband, Tony Holt; three daughters, Wanda Rowell and husband Jeff of Shelby, Darlene Earl of Clarksville Indiana, Susan Hamrick of Earl; stepchildren, Selena Hawkins, Annette Leatherman, Tony Wayne Holt and wife Melanie all of Shelby, and Jim Strange and wife Debbie of Conover; a brother, Lewis Peterson of Shelby; a sister, Carrie Davis and husband Wayne of Polkville; 19 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 2:30 pm at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
