Ena Priester Martin

Mrs. Ena Priester Martin, age 93, of 406 W. Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC, passed away on March 25, 2015.

Ena was born in Keysville, GA, daughter of the late James Wilson Priester and Susan Hardin Priester.

Ena was a very dedicated servant of Jesus Christ from childhood, through her youth and in the role of full time employee and homemaker. While carrying these responsibilities, she also served as secretary and bookkeeper for John and Mary Dorsey, missionaries to India for 50 years. During this same time locally, she ministered to the elderly and sick, and was a constant encourager for her family and to all under the influence of her life. By her Godly example, Ena showed us how to love, give, and live for Christ, whenever necessary, using words and scripture. She taught Sunday School to various ages at Mount Paran Baptist Church. After retiring from Cherry Burrell and Norfolk Southern Railway she tirelessly invested her life by encouraging others to love and follow Christ.

A graveside service was held at Mount Paran Baptist Church in Blacksburg, SC.

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Martin; her parents, James Wilson Priester and Susan Hardin Priester.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Smith and husband Henry Smith of Salisbury, NC; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Martha Carter of Leesburg, FL, Mary Dorsey of Blacksburg, SC, and Sue Ortino of Easley, SC; two brothers, Dr. Robert Priester (Sara) of Cary, NC, and Rev. Bill Priester (Joan) of Fayetteville, GA.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1612 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, SC 29340.
