Essie Eula Hammett Bridges, 95, of 1449 Fletcher Rd, Shelby, passed away
Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center in Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County, on January 17, 1922, to the late Smith Hammett and
Ola Harris Hammett.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John
Edgar "Eddie" Bridges; son Billy Joe Bridges; grandson, Robert Brian
Bridges, Sr.; son-in-law, Danny Wright; five brothers, Van, Jesse, Nathan,
Thristen, and Howard Hammett; three sisters, Nara Irvin, Lucy Wyatt and Ruby
Ramsey.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Bridges Wright of Polkville; two step
sons, Glenn Bridges and wife Betty and Charles Bridges and wife Linda;
granddaughter, Betsy Wright Buchanan and husband Steve of Gastonia; three
great-grandchildren, Nicholas Buchanan, Savannah Bridges and fiance Triston
Pierce, and Robert Brian Bridges, Jr.; great-great-granddaughter, Blair; six
step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm at
Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 4:30 PM at Stamey-Tysinger
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Shumate officiating.
