Esther Donice “Peaches” Walls

Mrs. Esther Donice “Peaches” Walls, 60 of 2033 Elizabeth Ave. Shelby, NC departed this life on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Hospice House in Kings Mountain, NC.  She was born on December 18, 1952 in Cleveland County, NC to the late John and Annie Millsap Murdock.

 

Peaches, as she was affectionately called, was a lifelong resident of Shelby and was a Burns High School graduate.  She was also a longtime member of Waddell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and served over the years as a choir member, usher board member and on the culinary committee helping in any way she could. 

 

Peaches was employed with Claddaugh Home Care as the office manager for 14 years and also as a C.N.A. for 30 years. Her community involvement included being a member of the Emma V. Kelley Temple #748 of the Elks. She was just selected as the 2013 Elk of the Year.  She was a faithful member of the Elks holding various positions throughout her years of service.  Peaches also volunteered for Guardian Ad Litem, Hospice, and  as aPlanner for Adult and Children Health Care.  She also volunteered for the Veterans and Military Club for which she was a member of.

 

Her hobbies included singing, dancing, reading , collecting “Stepping Stones” and traveling.  She also was a true Duke fan.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald “Dicky Boy” Walls.

 

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Regina Walls and Charity Roberts both of Shelby; a son, Reginald Ford of Hickory, NC; a sister, Beverly Murdock of Shelby; five grandchildren, Kaleah Roberts, Kalise Allen and Kailyn Allen all of Shelby and Ivorie Ford and Ebonie Ford both of Winston-Salem, NC; one nephew, Charles Eric Murdock of Shelby; a great-nephew, Brandon Murdock of Shelby; three sisters-in-law, Alice Borders (Taft) of Shelby, Deborah Foster-Smith of Charlotte, NC and Patricia Brown of Kings Mountain, NC; brothers-in-law, Sydney Brown and Pete Brown both of Kings Mountain; special friends, Della Robbs, Rene and Terry Degree, Devan Ingle and Dennis and Eileen McMillian; god-daughter, Chasity Roberts and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 2, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Waddell Chapel A.M.E. Church.  Burial will take place at Webb Memorial Lawns.  The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:00 PM on Monday at the church.  Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloes.net.  Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
