| Mrs. Ethel Bowen Burton Looman, 80, of Shelby died on Sunday February 6, 2011, at Peak Resources in Shelby. A native of Cherokee County SC, she was preceded in death by her parents Lee Gordon and Lizzie Ellis Bowen. Mrs. Looman is also preceded in death by her husband Forrest Robert Burton; her son, Ronald “Ron” Burton and four brothers, Robert, Kenneth, Bob and Ronnie Bowen.
Mrs. Looman is survived by her son, Marty Burton wife Deborah of Kings Mountain, NC; a daughter, Glenda Collins of Winchester VA; three brothers, Lawrence Bowen and David Bowen of Grover and Ricky Dean Bowen of Shelby; four sisters, Betty Lou Wright, Brenda Whitworth, Janice Carter and Becky Dover all of Grover; five grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at the Chapel of Cecil M Burton Funeral Home at 3:00pm on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. Burial will be at the Patterson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the service. The Rev. Bobby Quinn will be officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 – 3:00pm at Cecil M Burton Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
