Ethel Mae Beam
Ethel Mae Beam, age 94, of North Houser Street, died February 3, 2014 at her daughters’ residence.  She was born May 14, 1919 in Lincoln County, a daughter of the late Joseph Pinkney and Lillie Elizabeth Barnett McAllister Humphries.  Ethel was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  Mrs. Beam loved to yodel and whistle, enjoyed fishing and gardening, her fig tree and gospel music.
 
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ray Hoyle Beam, a daughter, Sandy Rae Beam and sixteen brothers and sisters.
 
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Black (Allan) of Cherryville; three grandchildren, Jason Black (Julie Lovett) of Crouse, Dana Sturgill (Allen) of Cherryville,  Hope Beam Lankford (Robbie), five Great Grandchildren, Logan Sturgill, Leah Sturgill, Josie Black, Jeb Black and Lynndie Dellinger.
 
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Key and Rev. Ken Gibson officiating.  Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:30 – 2:45 PM.  Other times the family will be at the home of Becky and Allan Black, 643 Roy Eaker Road, Cherryville.
