Ethel Wells Putnam

Blacksburg -- Ethel Wells Putnam, 94, of 559 Holly Ridge Road, passed away Thursday, February 15th, 2018, at her residence.

Born in Grover, she was the widow of Thomas Lee Putnam, Jr. and the daughter of the late Benjamin F. Wells and Sally Kendrick Wells. Mrs. Putnam retired from Fiber Industries and was a member of Holly Ridge Baptist Church. She loved her family and birdwatching from her favorite chair.

Surviving Mrs. Putnam are three daughters, Gloria P. Martin of Blacksburg, Peggy P. Bartee and husband, Keith, of Mooresboro, NC, and Shirley P. Ramsey and husband, Morris, of Gaffney; one son, T. Mike Putnam of the home; two brothers, Bob Wells of Polkville, NC and Bill Wells and wife, Peggy, of Spindale, NC; six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Putnam was preceded in death by her son, Donald Lee Putnam, and brothers, Thomas Wells and Grady Wells.

Special thanks to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, caregivers Betty Jean Ussery, Ashley Wright, Lois Norman, and Teresa Wilson.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 17 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Holly Ridge Baptist Church, 658 Tribal Road, Blacksburg, SC. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Michael Ware officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Paran Baptist Church Cemetery. Kevin Whetstine, Eric Stacy, Corey Bennett, Carlton Norman, Michael Dwayne Putnam, Bradley Norman will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 260 Fairwinds Drive, Landrum, SC 29356.

The family will be at the residence.
