Eva Self age 80 died Thursday October 22, 2013 at Hospice Wendover. Born on January 05, 1935, she was the daughter of the late James Landrum and Dessie Viola Oliver Thrift. Eva worked at Ester Mill for a number of years and then as a waitress for The Hub Café at Medical Arts, and in her free time she loved to shop. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Thomas Self, her sister, Rachel Swink, and her brother, Edward Thrift.

Eva is survived by one sister, Nelene Swink and husband Steve of Shelby; and nieces and nephews, Kimberly Grant and husband Dale, Ted and Susan Thrift, Josie Grant and Preston Grant. Also surviving is her companion of 37 years, Robert Hand.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday October 25, 2015 at 2:00pm at Sunset Cemetery with Dr. Terry Floyd officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside and other times at the home of Kimberly and Dale Grant, 1908 Prentice Drive Shelby NC 28150
