Exchange Club Recognizes Outgoing President
The Exchange Club of Shelby recently installed their 2010-11 officers.  The Reverend Bobby Malloy presided over the induction ceremony. He described the responsibilities of each position and the officers pledged to fulfill their responsibilities to the best of their abilities.

The new officers are President Bobby Raines, Secretary and President-Elect Bob Smith, Treasurer Jimmy Baynard, and Past President Lib Grasyon.  The Club board members are Buford Ellis, Ted Grayson, Sarah Jenkins, Cleatus Hunsinger, Margaret Malloy, and Gene Webber.

At the August meeting, outgoing President Lib Grayson was presented with a plaque and recognized for an outstanding year of leadership and service.  Over the past year, the Exchange Club of Shelby awarded 8 ACE Award scholarships to local high school students, paid for a group of North Shelby School students to attend summer camp, earned the National Service Award, earned the Big “E” Excellence Award, earned the Exchange Public Relations Award, and sponsored the North Carolina district ACE Award winner.

The Exchange Club of Shelby is a civic club dedicated to community service.  Club programs emphasize youth programs, scholarships, and child abuse prevention.  Local programs include the A.C.E. Youth Awards, Camp Scholarships for North Shelby School, Police Officer of the Year, Firefighter of the Year, and Child Abuse Prevention Education Programs.

The Club’s primary fundraiser is selling peanuts at the Cleveland County Fair.  Stop by the peanut booth in the southern end of Dorton Exhibit Hall for a $2 bag of roasted peanuts and to ask a member about Club activities.  All money raised goes to Cleveland County programs.  Club meetings are at 6:30pm on the second and fourth Monday of the month at Jackson’s Cafeteria.
